Artist Description:

Guitar innovator and stylist, Dick Dale, was one of the most influential musicians in
the creation of the "California Sound" of the 1950s and ’60s which would forever effect the sound of everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Kurt Cobain. Dale’s early days as a Capitol recording artist would pave the way for super groups such as Brian Wilson’s Beach Boys and The Byrds as he was one of the first to make Southern California the center of the music business.
Dale’s work with Leo Fender, changed the way guitar amplifiers and speakers were not only used, but also the way they were built. Fender recreated the guitar amplifier in order to meet the demands and power of his playing. His stage presence influenced the name of such amplifiers as "The Fender Showman," appropriately named after Leo Fender witnessed Dale jumping from the amplifier to the floor and sliding on his knees on stage.
Dick Dale continues a rigorous performing schedule and even more hard driving live show which is a dynamic journey through American rock music.
As the original Power Guitar Player, many have said "Les Paul invented the electric guitar and Dick Dale put the electricity in it."
