The Standells join IBD

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

The group was formed in 1962 by keyboardist and lead vocalist Larry Tamblyn.
Their first hit single on Tower Records "Dirty Water" reached  #11 on the Billboard charts, #8 in Cashbox, and #1 in Record World.
Even though they never sought out the image, the Standells are listed in most rock history books as the God Fathers of Punk Rock. Perhaps it
was because of their snarly, moody look or their vicious, burning sound.
Perhaps it was the us – against – them lyrics found in their songs. Regardless, it’s a label that they’ve learned to live with.

"Dirty Water" is listed in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 songs that shaped Rock & Roll.. A biography entitled "Love that Dirty Water:  The Standells and the Improbable Red Sox Victory Anthem" is currently available on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Target, and in other retail outlets.

Today, the Standells consist of original members Larry Tamblyn [lead singer & keyboardist], John Fleck [bassist], Adam Marsland [guitarist & co-lead vocalist], and veteran drummer Greg Burnham.

After successfully playing several shows in europe in 2010, the band will be available for summer festivals, a full european tour will follow in November 2011.

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

Carving out a unique slice of the creative underground for over two decades, fueled by a succession of critically acclaimed albums, selling over 50,000 to date.
The band has toured all Europe and North America, Mexico and Asia, appeared at major festivals and had their music included on a number of film soundtracks.
Formed in 1980 by Martin Bowes and Julia Waller in Coventry, England, influenced by a mix of punk ideology and experimental art aesthetics, they emerged as part of the early 80′s UK Industrial scene alongside contemporaries Test Department, Coil, Legendary Pink dots, In The Nursery, Portion Control et al.

Their music is an undefinable marriage of dark and light,of futures and pasts, probing unexplored sonic landscapes with an eclectic marriage of experimental and traditional sound, of electronics and acoustics, of male and female.

"Attrition have always been a nexus of industrial fury, gothic drama, ambient structural finesse and classical chamber orchestrations. Stunning in scope, character and intellect, Martin Bowes has been a paragon of true creative prowess, holding in two hands the past and future of music, and smashing them together with a calculated and charismatic menace.Bowes builds his dark industrial music with all the compassion and attention to detail of a classical musician" [Electroage /US]

On Dec 8th in this year it`s the 30th anniversary of the first ever Attricion Show.

The band will release a best of colletion " Dreamtime Collectors", a 16 track CD album compiled by Martin, featuring many rare versions of ATTRITION classics and a cover designed by Russian artist and film maker Edward 209.
