Dick Dale – welcome to The Hall Of Fame and – IBD!

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Guitar innovator and stylist, Dick Dale, was one of the most influential musicians in the creation of the "California Sound" of the 1950s and ’60s which would forever effect the sound of everyone from Jimi Hendrix to Kurt Cobain. Dale’s early days as a Capitol recording artist would pave the way for super groups such as Brian Wilson’s Beach Boys and The Byrds as he was one of the first to make Southern California the center of the music business.
Dale’s work with Leo Fender, changed the way guitar amplifiers and speakers were not only used, but also the way they were built. Fender recreated the guitar amplifier in order to meet the demands and power of his playing. His stage presence influenced the name of such amplifiers as "The Fender Showman," appropriately named after Leo Fender witnessed Dale jumping from the amplifier to the floor and sliding on his knees on stage.
Dick Dale continues a rigorous performing schedule and even more hard driving live show which is a dynamic journey through American rock music.
As the original Power Guitar Player, many have said "Les Paul invented the electric guitar and Dick Dale put the electricity in it."

Quotes:
"Dick Dale, you must have black blood in you!" – Fats Domino

"I ain’t never seen fingers move like that!" – John Lee Hooker

"Dick Dale, I’m going to scrap my [solo] album if you don’t play on it." – Keith Moon

"Dick Dale is a force of nature." – Brian Wilson

These days Dick is being introduced into The Musicians Hall Of Fame! He will be available for European dates starting late february 2010.

IBD proudly presents: The Sonics live

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

We are very happy to announce the signing of The Sonics for some selected European dates before the end of the year. Next to their unique and widely influential live sound [check the recent press-reviews] they will have a new EP engineered and produced by mastermind Jack Endino.

"Long before Mudhoney and Nirvana first plugged in their fuzz boxes, the Sonics built the foundation for guitar-based PacNorWest rock & roll. While other American bands were meekly imitating the Beatles in the mid-1960s, the Sonics were turning up their amps and churning out a harder and louder version of garage rock with such classic originals as "Strychnine" and "Psycho." Everyone from the Cramps and Bruce Springsteen to the Fall, the Things, Eddie Vedder and the Nomads has covered their songs, and Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and Led Zeppelin were among their many celebrity fans. Just about every modern garage-rock band has ripped them off [the Hives' entire career, for example, appears to be based on shamelessly lifting the Sonics' riffs and style]. After breaking up in the late 1960s, they’ve stubbornly stayed out of the spotlight, particularly singer Jerry Roslie, who was once so reclusive, he made J.D. Salinger seem as ubiquitous as Paris Hilton. No one thought the Sonics would ever reunite, but they received a belated career boost when their version of "Have Love, Will Travel" was used in a recent Land Rover commercial, of all things. Now founding members Rob Lind, Larry Parypa and, yes, even Roslie are back, and they’re reportedly as loud as ever. Don’t dare miss ‘em"[ by FALLING JAMES]

We will be looking into some more shows for them in spring 2010 as well as summer-festivals all over Europe in 2010.
