Please welcome with us the loudest and freakiest rock duo from the East!

Armenian siblings Gaya and Karen Arutyunyan [also members of Deti Picasso and Masfel] explore the borders of rock music synthesizing experimental rock music with electronics, punk and theatrical stage show.  Gaya and Karen explore the limits of composing and creativity in terms of the duo format. The band’s melange of raw power, funky disco beats and Caucasian influences elevate in the elemental energy of their live performances. Almost in every track they change instruments, using guitars, drums, keyboards, loops and percussion and making a very diverse and dynamic live show – please check them out on youtube! They do have quite a touring history already, mainly in Eastern Europe,  incl. Festivals like SZIGET 2012. By the end of october we expect a brand new video as well as a full time Live DVD.

Surely one of the best newcomers from the East! Be Ready!

Dissidenten – Festivals and “Unplugged” tour

Thursday, July 19th, 2012
Dissidenten will be seen on some major summer-festivals again in the nearest future.

This spring they received the prestigious Praetorius Preis in the category International Peace Music Award and for the Gala festivity they did a short acoustic live appearance with 6 musicians on stage. This little concert at Schauspielhaus Hannover was received so well, that we decided to get this Dissidenten “Unplugged” line-up out on the road for some dates in the fall. Not only will it be a very special experience to hear their big hits like “Fata Morgana” acoustic, it also is a chance for smaller live clubs to get Dissidenten in the house, the production has been adjusted accordingly. There are still dates available in the fall.

Dissidenten win International Peace Music Award 2012 – congratulations!

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Rolling Stone Magazine once called them the Godfathers of World-Beat…

’The World’ was Dissidenten’s main musical subject long before such ideas floated into fashion and especially their long-time connections to the Maghreb, musically as well as personally, has recently given the band quite some new importance with the upcoming of the Arab Spring, and stresses once again how music can be a language and an instrument to stand up and unite the people of the whole world for a more peaceful and liberal life.

Dissidenten just received the prestigious International Peace Music Award [Praetorius Preis] in Germany which brings them in a line with fine Artists such as Catalan viola player Jordi Savall and singer Thomas Quasthoff. The prize honors Dissidenten for building musical bridges between cultures.
As stated by the jury, consisting of experts of the international music scene, journalists and artists, "Dissidenten have worked for years towards international understanding and an equivalent mixture of musical styles". The award ceremony will be held march 24th in Hannover, highlighted by a live appearance of Dissidenten.

Having played important festivals all over the world in 2010/11 like Mawazine-Morocco, WOMAD-UK, Musicas do Mundo-PT, Sayan Ring-Russia to name a few, Dissidenten are now available for Festivals and Concerts in 2012.
